Optimizing WLAN for IPTV: 9 Tips Against Stuttering
1 Min. reading time · Updated on October 7, 2026

Most streaming problems arise in the home network, not with the provider. These nine measures often help immediately.
- Use LAN Cable. If possible, connect the television or streaming stick by cable (with a suitable adapter for the stick).
- Choose 5 GHz Band. It is faster and less congested than 2.4 GHz, but has a shorter range.
- Set Up Router Freely. Not in a cabinet, not behind the TV, as central and elevated as possible.
- Shorten Distance. Walls, ceilings, and mirrors significantly dampen the signal.
- Check Channel. Set a rarely used WLAN channel in the router or activate the automatic mode.
- Update Router Firmware. Manufacturers often fix stability problems with these updates.
- Mesh or Repeater. In larger apartments, a mesh system can be better than a simple repeater.
- Powerline as an Alternative. If cabling is not possible, data transmission via the power line can help – the quality depends on the house installation.
- Restart. Completely disconnect the router and device from the power and restart.
