Test IPTV: Check in 15 minutes if the provider is good
3 Min. reading time · Updated on October 22, 2026

A trial access is only useful if you use it purposefully. This checklist helps you get a reliable picture in about 15 minutes.
Before the Test
- Install the app on your actual playback device – not on another device that happens to be faster.
- If possible, connect via LAN cable or 5-GHz Wi-Fi so you can rule out the network as a source of error.
- Note down the three to five channels that you really watch daily beforehand.
The Checklist
- Channels present? Can you find your desired channels and are they correctly named and sorted?
- Program Guide (EPG): Are the titles and times correct? A wrong EPG is an early sign of little care.
- Switching time: How long does it take for a picture to appear after changing?
- Image quality: Watch a moving scene (sports, action), not just news.
- Sound: Lip-synced? German audio track available?
- Stability during prime time: Test in the evening between 8 PM and 10 PM. That's when usage is highest.
- Multiple streams: If you use multiple devices, test them simultaneously.
- Support: Ask a question and measure how quickly and understandably the answer arrives.
Typical Mistakes when Testing
If you only test during the day, you won't experience the peak load. If you only zap for a minute, you won't see any dropouts. And if you use an old device or weak Wi-Fi, you blame the provider for problems that are due to the connection – help with this: IPTV stuttering? How to fix it.

Frequently Asked Questions about the IPTV Test
How long should an IPTV test last? Plan for at least one evening. You should also see the offering during prime time, because that's when it shows if it runs stably.
Does a test have to be free? The provider determines that. Ask before starting if something is to be paid, what exactly is included, and what happens afterwards. Our test for free page states what the process looks like with us.
On which devices should I test? On the device that you will actually use later. A test on a mobile phone says little about the quality on the television. Suitable devices can be found under Installation.
What to do if the picture stutters during the test? First check your own connection before blaming the provider. Help is available at IPTV stuttering or buffering? and How much internet does IPTV need?.
